19 of the Russian's 21 titles have been won on hard surfaces

A revitalized Medvedev won his initial championship for 882 days with success over opponent Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a difficult season, achieving just one match at the major tournaments and undergoing a meltdown at the American major.

His varied form on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in particular - caused him falling of the top ten and eventually parting ways with long-time coach Gilles Cervara.

Now training with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually improved in the recent weeks - peaking in a tightly fought three-set victory over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's initial trophy since the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt after that period of that year.

The win also means Medvedev has secured twenty-one titles at 21 different competitions.

"For the first time I am participating in a event with my children together, so to secure a championship is really nice," stated world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my younger daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had failed in his previous six championship matches, including in the German tournament previously this season.

Medvedev's counter-punching strategy and regular outbursts on the tennis court had prompted commentators to question if his ability to play at the highest level was finished.

Yet the player has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, striving to advance forward and play positively, reinforced by an improved service.

The champion fought back from a break down in the initial set against the tricky Frenchman, winning 4 of the concluding five games to take the lead.

The pair swapped service breaks in the following set before the challenger, striving for his maiden ATP Tour title, seized the initiative to force a third set.

Moutet rescued four initial break points in a close deciding set before the Russian won the break to 15 to close out the victory.

Suitably, the winner earned the title with a point at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to control a shot after a lengthy match.
